After working for various roofing contractor's for a period of eight years and teaching in the Davenport School System for one year, Rob White started a roofing company in 1970 known as "Rob White Roofing". Then Mr. White, who following his short teaching career, decided to use his knowledge of the roofing industry to go into business for himself. In the beginning, Rob owned a 1959 Ford 4 x 4-flatbed truck with plywood toolboxes and a snowplow for winter work.

In 1972, the Company became a Sub Chapter "S" Corporation. White Roofing Co. was established in 1974 by Mr. Robert White and elected to become a "C" Corporation in 1976. At that time, the official registered name with the State of Iowa became "White Roofing Co., Inc." The business has grown from Mr. White doing the estimating and roofing by himself into a corporation employing over 30 dedicated employees and yearly sales in the millions.

In 1984 White Roofing Company, Inc. branched out into the commercial roofing industry. Then in 1986, White Roofing Company, Inc. became a Carlisle Approved Applicator. As things progressed in 1993 the company was awarded the status of a Carlisle "Centurion" applicator, with over 100 "Perfect 10" roof installations, and at the present time the company is a Carlisle "Hall of Fame" applicator with over 450 "Perfect 10's". White Roofing Company, Inc. is also an approved Versico EPDM applicator.

One of White Roofing Company, Inc. specialties throughout the years has been in the steep slope or shingle category. White Roofing Company, Inc. has specialized on numerous churches and large commercial projects, due to their architectural significance and the challenges involved. White Roofing Co., Inc., has installed shingles, wood shakes, slate and tile roofing on many different types of roofs. The combined experience of administrative and field employees totals well into the 100's of years. In addition, White Roofing Company, Inc. employees are dedicated to constant improvement with timely internal and external training sessions and seminars. The company has numerous specialty "lifts" and conveyors as well as their own 25 ton crane with 146' of tip height.

All employees take pride in their safety record while the company enjoys a lower than average insurance experience rating. Safety meetings are conducted at least once a week with mandatory attendance.

The company is also members of the National Roofing Contractor's Association; the Midwest Roofing Contractor's Association, the Iowa Roofing Contractor's Association, Construction Specifications Institute, and National Association of Independent Homebuilders. Memberships also include the Better Business Bureau and the North Scott Rotary. The company is fully licensed, bonded and insured in the states in which it works.
